For any organization of any size it’s never convenient to have mounds of data floating around where each is an island unto itself. Data must be migratory across all the systems and software programs needed to run a successful organization. While it’s impossible to accomplish 100% free flow of information across all systems, it’s reasonable to expect the ability to import donation, pledge and event data into several key systems.
Accounting
Since an online donation system involves the flow of funds to and from financial accounts it’s essential to be able to merge this data with your organization’s traditional accounting system. This process should be as simple as the following steps:
•Query your online donation system with a time range and for the depth of information you desire
•Download the search results to your computer in a compatible format
•Open your accounting or bookkeeping software and import the downloaded data file
