Your Account
It's important to your donors that when they open a credit card or bank statement, your organization's name appears next to the donation amount. Having this feature will let each donor know their money arrived at your organization safely and securely, encouraging them to donate again in the future.
By the time a donor receives their statement, they may have forgotten the amount or date of their donation. A charge associated with an unknown 3rd party payment processor can cause suspicion and time consuming research on the part of the donor. This wasted time and effort is directly associated in the donor's mind with your organization when they discover the charge in question is legitimate.
Your Merchant Account, Your money
More than just your own name on statements, having your own merchant account ensures that the money donated is never out of your organization's control. The money is never transferred to any 3rd party holding account and is always delivered as fast as possible, usually within 24-48 hours after the donation.
An online donation company that sets up accounts for your organization and in your organization's name is commonly referred to as a Gateway. Online donation companies that transfer your organization's funds into their own accounts before dispersing them at later dates is commonly referred to as an Aggregator.
Qgiv is a Gateway. We never have control of funds destined for your organization. You can learn more about the differences between Gateways and Aggregators in the Process Section of Donation University.
