As attendees navigated hundreds of classes, tons of breakout sessions, and lunch meetings, they tweeted up a storm: users posted\u00a0thousands of tweets full of fundraising advice and statistics.\u00a0Conference-goers are still unpacking and learning from all the materials they were given in different sessions &#8212; and we are, too! Here is\u00a0just a glimpse of some of the standout tweets from that week (and how you can learn from them!).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>Being concise is key. If you need to write a long-form post on social, be AUTHENTIC. Otherwise, no one will read it. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/15ntcvisualmedia?src=hash\">#15ntcvisualmedia<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ad Council (@AdCouncil) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdCouncil\/status\/573175224423866370\">March 4, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Takeaway:\u00a0<\/strong>Most of today&#8217;s online media is very visual. If you have long, uninteresting posts, nobody will read them. To get your message heard, keep it short and sweet. If you must make a long post, be as authentic and conversational as possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">___<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>9.5% of online donations came from a mobile device. 16.6% give from an email on mobile devices. If your communications and website aren&#8217;t mobile-friendly, you&#8217;re going to alienate your donors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">___<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>Monthly donors are huge advocates and want to know how their donations are making an impact. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/15ntcplayitagain?src=hash\">#15ntcplayitagain<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/15ntc?src=hash\">#15ntc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sue Anne Reed (@sue_anne) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sue_anne\/status\/573178539370930177\">March 4, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Takeaway:\u00a0<\/strong>Your recurring donors are the best brand ambassadors you have. So many beautiful parts of your narrative are hard to describe &#8212; the look on a child&#8217;s face, the transformation of an adopted pet, the energy of new volunteers &#8212; but you can show them in a picture. Use photos to\u00a0take your storytelling to the next level!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">___<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>&#8220;Email fatigue is 100% driven by relevance, not frequency.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/15ntcemaildesign?src=hash\">#15ntcemaildesign<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ben Miller (@benwritesthings) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/benwritesthings\/status\/573537481385074688\">March 5, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Takeaway:\u00a0<\/strong>Donors don&#8217;t delete e-mails without reading them just because they get a lot of them. They delete\u00a0them because they aren&#8217;t saying anything new. If donors are on mobile devices, they&#8217;ll see your video auto-play without any sound. Are your videos compelling enough without sound that people will want to watch the whole thing? But a majority of nonprofits don&#8217;t have mobile-friendly websites&#8230; and risk losing potential donors. Donors are 34% more likely to donate on a responsive website\/ form than they are on one that&#8217;s not responsive.
