In response, <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2016\/04\/19\/nonprofit-online-donations\/?utm_source=feedly&amp;utm_medium=webfeeds#U3zA._GYciqm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mashable wrote<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">that<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u201cNonprofits should be giving more attention to mobile.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mobile Commons thought\u00a0this would be a great opportunity to break down the fundraising options that are available over mobile. Here are three\u00a0things to think about when you\u2019re considering your next fundraising drive.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Send a Link to a Donation Webpage<\/h2>\n<p>Text-to-give is really just the tip of the mobile fundraising iceberg. One of the most effective ways to raise money over mobile is to text your supporters a link to your mobile donation page. Your constituents can then give to your cause right from their phones.<\/p>\n<p>Isn\u2019t texting out a link just like emailing a link? It is \u2013 but better, because you\u2019re using a form of communication people actually read. As the M+R study reported, email open rates are around 16%. Meanwhile, text message open rates are 98%. It\u2019s far more likely that\u00a0your constituents will actually read your message if you text it to them.<\/p>\n<p>Once they read your message, they\u2019re also likelier to click on the donation link. The average SMS click-through rate is 36%. <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"http:\/\/mailchimp.com\/resources\/research\/email-marketing-benchmarks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to MailChimp<\/a><\/span>, the average email click through rate for nonprofits is just 2.84%.<\/p>\n<p>Mobile web links can also auto-fill basic information such as name, email, and address, so supporters simply have to add their credit card info to make a contribution.<\/p>\n<p>(And, of course,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/online-giving\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"> Qgiv can make a donation form that looks great no matter what device is used to access it<\/span>!<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1334\" height=\"750\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3565\" src=\"https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/everytown-donate.png\" alt=\"3 ways mobile messaging can drive donations\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/everytown-donate.png 1334w, https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/everytown-donate-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/everytown-donate-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/everytown-donate-1024x576.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1334px) 100vw, 1334px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>2. Text Message Pledging<\/h2>\n<p>If you don\u2019t want to ask people to make donations now, you can always ask them to pledge for later. Ask your constituents to make a mobile pledge. Your text messaging CRM can record who\u2019s pledged what, and then reach out later with a more formal fundraising request. Reminder Texts<\/h2>\n<p>Of course, nobody\u2019s suggesting you use mobile to the exclusion of your other outreach. Mobile often works best when it\u2019s additive. Sometimes the best way to actually inspire a well-meaning supporter to give is to reach them across multiple mediums.<\/p>\n<p>One tactic we\u2019ve found especially effective is to send a text message reminder, after an email fundraising request. We\u2019ve found that <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mobilecommons.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">supporters who receive an SMS reminder in addition to an email are up to 77% more likely to donate<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>A mobile messaging campaign can help drive donations even when you don\u2019t explicitly ask for money. We\u2019ve seen that <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mobilecommons.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">people on a nonprofit\u2019s mobile list are up to 250% much more likely to donate<\/a><\/span>. Even simply using your mobile campaign for organization announcements and updates can increase your connection with your constituents.
