Keep your subject lines short and sweet<\/h4>\n<p>With a <a href=\"https:\/\/litmus.com\/blog\/mobile-back-up-to-56-for-july-email-market-share\">56% chance that your email will be opened on a mobile device<\/a>, it&#8217;s important to keep your subject line short so it doesn&#8217;t get cut off! 50 characters or less is ideal. Here&#8217;s a fabulous glimpse into my junk email inbox, which I opened on my iPhone. Two out of three got it right!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/email-subjects.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4016 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/email-subjects-300x279.png\" alt=\"email subjects\" width=\"300\" height=\"279\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/email-subjects-300x279.png 300w, https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/email-subjects.png 747w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>2. Never (really&#8230;never) send your newsletter as a\u00a0BCC with a PDF attachment<\/h4>\n<p>With services like Constant Contact, MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, and more, you can create great templates and send your newsletter to 2,500 people for about $50 a month. Just one $50 donation as a result of your email will pay for the service\u2014it&#8217;s worth the small investment!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Download an attachment?!.. No.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Psst<\/em>&#8230;Qgiv has free integrations with Constant Contact, MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, and Klaviyo!<\/p>\n<h4>3.\u00a0Prioritize image and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/micro-video-nonprofits\/\">video content<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>More and more people are opening emails on mobile devices&#8230;and they&#8217;re just skimming the content! The eye is immediately drawn to images, so make sure you have something eye-catching next to your call to action. You can even use free programs like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canva.com\/templates\/social-graphics\">Canva<\/a> (or even Paint) to place text on the image\u2014it may be the only text that gets read! Here&#8217;s a nice example from Cityteam.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6686 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/cityteam.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/cityteam.png 500w, https:\/\/www.qgiv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/cityteam-300x253.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>4. Get more people on your email list<\/h4>\n<p>Email isn&#8217;t dead\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/litmus.com\/blog\/surprise-millennials-love-email-just-as-much-as-everybody-else\">it&#8217;s stronger than ever<\/a>.\u00a0It&#8217;s also\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nptechforgood.com\/2015\/09\/16\/20-must-know-fundraising-and-social-media-stats\/\">responsible for about 1\/3 of nonprofits&#8217; online fundraising revenue<\/a>, so you can&#8217;t afford to miss out!\u00a0To get more people on your list, make sure you have a newsletter opt-in option on your website (preferrably in the navigation so it&#8217;s always there, no matter where visitors click) that requires minimal effort. Don&#8217;t make people navigate to another page to fill out their information! You can also try hosting contests or offering exclusive content items that require email address entry. Cityteam nails it again with their newsletter opt-in.
